Praying Against The Enemies Of Missionaries.....Missionaries face enemies that can hinder their effectiveness. These enemies can damage and in some cases destroy their ministry. Pray is the key for overcoming and destroying these things. This prayer guide is offered to help you stand against these enemies and provide protection for the missionaries.
Fear: Father, I plead in the name of Jesus that You will protect and deliver __________________ from fear. Your Word declares that perfect love casts out fear. Pour out Your love on ________________ so that fear can have no room in his/her life. Enable ______________ to look to You as his/her Rock and Refuge. Deliver _____________ from every fear through Your unchanging and unceasing love (1 John 4:18; Romans 8:31-39).
Loneliness: Father, I plead that You would protect ________________ from loneliness. Do not allow it to become a hindrance to his/her ministry. I ask You to make Your presence real and precious to him/her. Cause him/her to know that You are with him/her. I pray that ________________'s loneliness will be a path to You. Deepen ______________'s friendship to You; let his/her relationship to You be his/her anchor in the midst of loneliness (Matthew 28:20; Psalm 73:25-26).
Worry: Father, I ask You to deliver _______________ from worry. Teach him/her the uselessness and sinfulness of worrying. Cause _______________ to know that You know what he/she needs. I ask that ______________ will seek first Your kingdom and its righteousness. When worry attempts to gain a foothold in _____________'s life, I pray that he/she would be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, would let his/her requests be made known to You. I ask You to enable him/her to be faithful to You and Your call regardless of what happens. Even when there are no outward results, grant him/her a passion to continue in his/her work. Misunderstanding: Father, I plead in the name of Jesus Christ that You will grant strong relationships between _________________, the people and other missionaries. Deliver him/her from any misunderstandings with anyone on the field. Enable ________________ to speak the truth in love. Grant compassion and a servant spirit to ________________ (Ephesians 4:15; Matthew 20:28).
Hopelessness: Father, You are the God of all comfort and the Father of mercies. I pray that You would deliver _____________ from hopelessness. Cause every problem to be an opportunity for growth. Cause every setback on the field to fuel his/her fire to serve You and carry out Your will. In the midst of adversity, let Your comfort and mercy flow into ________________'s life. Let this comfort and mercy sustain him/her and guard him/her from a spirit of hopelessness (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
Persecution: Father, Your Word says that those who live godly will suffer persecution. Persecution is a reality for _____________. Yet, I pray that You would strengthen him/her to face and overcome this persecution. Grant wisdom and insight to ___________________ so that he/she can deal with persecution. Let the wicked schemes and actions of evil people backfire. Rather than stopping ___________ and the spread of the gospel, cause it to bring many people to the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 3:12).
Hardship: Father, I ask You to give strength to _________________. You know the many hardships that he/she faces. You are his/her Creator. You have made him/her; You know him/her. I pray that You would grant the physical strength that he/she needs. Give _______________ a clear and sharp mind. Lord, grant emotional strength and stability to ______________. I ask that You would cause Your grace to abound toward ______________ in the midst of the hardship that he/she faces (Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 139).
Finances: Father, I pray that You would meet all ______________'s needs according Your glorious riches through Jesus Christ. You know the needs that he/she has. I ask that You would grant the finances that _______________ needs for his/her life and ministry. Pour out on him/her Your abundance. Cause finances to abound toward _____________ and his/her ministry (Philippians 4:19).
Spiritual laziness: Father, I ask that ____________ would be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. Cause him/her to know that his/her labor in the Lord is not in vain. Deliver him/her from laziness in the things of God. Grant him/her a passion for You and Your work. Stir the fires of his/her commitment to You and empower him/her to be efficient and faithful in serving You (1 Corinthians 15:58).
Sexual Purity: Father, I pray that ________________ will abstain from sexual immorality. This is Your will for him/her. I ask that ________________ will pursue sexual purity in his/her thoughts, words, and actions. I plead that _______________ will flee from sexual immorality in any form. _________________ is bought with a price and is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Because of this, I pray that he/she will strive for sexual purity (1 Thessalonians 4:3; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
Homesickness: Father, I pray that You would enable _______________ to adapt to the people and the culture where he/she is serving. Give him/her a heart for the people and the culture. I ask You to make Your presence and peace real and precious to him/her. Raise up believers who will minister to him/her and who can help him/her overcome homesickness (Psalm 103:13-14).
Family Situation: Father, I pray that You would bless ______________'s family. Supply their every need through Your great power and compassion. Draw them into an intimate relationship with Yourself. Grant them understanding concerning ____________'s call and ministry. Work into their hearts a concern and compassion for him/her. Cause them to support fully _____________'s work in the Lord. Deal with any problems in ______________'s family that would hinder or hurt his/her ministry. Give ____________ the wisdom and grace that he/she needs to deal with his/her family (Psalm 133:1).
Culture Shock: Father, You know the dangers and the difficulties that ________________ is facing by living and working in another culture. I pray that You grace and power would sustain _______________ and would enable him and her to adjust and adapt to the culture (Philippians 4:12-13).
Stress: Father, ______________ experiences stress in his/her life and labors on the mission field. You alone know the anxiety, the frustration, and the fatigue that he/she feels. I pray that You would grant grace for every stress that he/she faces (2 Corinthians 1:3).
